Beyond the Mic

Michael Daingerfield: Comedy, Music and More

January 16, 2017

When did you get started. First spot etc.
My first voice-over job was as the voice of Ace Ventura on the animated series – was a really big deal for me that launched my whole voice-over career.  My first commercial spot was for Bell where I played a character named Howie Dribblemayer – very fun spot to do.  And my first spot with Wave was for Playland – worked with Colin on this and it was so much fun – Colin’s great at just letting me roll with it.

Personal Interests/Family.
My number one love is my daughter Annika, she just turned 5 years old and keeps me very busy.  Tennis has been a long-time favourite sport of mine, still play competitively and I’m currently ranked top 10 in Canada in my age category in doubles and 3rd in BC.  Oh, and music is my other favourite thing to do.

Fave spot or session. I would have to say some of my favourite sessions at Wave were doing the MTS Christmas spots where I played a Yeti. literally had no dialogue, more just mehs, heys, and hums, etc., but it was the most fun and we seemed to get a lot of mileage out of it.  Comedy is very easy to do at Wave.  I guess that’s one of the reasons why they do the Wave Comedy night every year, which I  hosted the first 2 years.
